JUNE 30
Blair Stars at First Annual Ranger Nation Open
Well, Brandon showed the boys a thing or two at the First Annual, taking the prizes for Longest Drive and Low Gross (78). A stellar crowd was in attendance to participate on a hot muggy Sunday as the Ranger brass kicked off another Ranger event. No doubt the heat of the day resulted in the non-attendance of numerous celebrities, such as the Dogg, coaches McCruelly and Black and the Noodle, who it is rumoured, tends to wilt in the heat.
The Dogg bottomed out and punched a hole in his oil pan whilst attempting to take the railroad tracks at 120 km in attempting to get to the tourney on time. But the show must go on, and go on it did. Captain Shea put one within 8 feet of the pin to take the Closest to the Pin prize, and Robbie B. gleefully took home the High Gross with a splendid 116. In the Texas Scramble category Team Wick/Mac swept to victory with a 74. The Captain quickly claimed the prize and announced that he now had a Christmas present for Donna - a new jewelry box. When informed that he had never bought her any jewelry, he mused that maybe someone else would now give her some as she would have the box to put it in.
It was good to see the old gang and all in all it was a great day. Next year, we will invite the alumni and make this into a much larger and better event. Hope your summer is going well. Later....
